The state government has changed its mind about raising building permit costs significantly. Up to 60% off the building permit fees are now available. Following the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) loss in the Lok Sabha elections, the administration reversed course at the Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s request (CPIM). The minister made it clear that people who had previously paid higher permission costs would receive a refund for the remaining money following the concession.
Following the intervention of the CPM state leadership, the government made the decision to enact significant reductions in permission fees. During the most recent party state committee meeting, the issue was examined and it was noted that the increase in permission costs that was implemented a year ago had caused further hardship for the populace. The hike had drawn harsh criticism from several quarters. The government made the choice after taking these factors into account.
